Whenever we travel to a new place, one thing we don't want to miss out on is local food. Each country is famous for its own flavors, and so is Japan. When it comes to Japan, people have these preconceived notions that vegetarian travelers cannot survive in the country. But that's not true at all, I agree its a bit difficult to find good vegetarian or even chicken based food, but once you find the right place, trust me you will relish the food.
Here are some places in Tokyo that vegetarians and chicken lovers can rely on:
1. Santa Monica Crepes, Harajuku: Santa Monica Crepe in Takeshita Dori sells 50 types of crepes. One can choose from ice cream based crepes to fruit-based crepes to meat-based crepes. It's filling, affordable and tasty at the same time.
2. TGIF, Shibuya: TGIF in Shibuya is again a good option to snack on some Quesadillas, pizzas, french fries, and chicken fried rice.
3. Gram, Harajuku: Gram is a Japanese cafe famous for its super fluffy soufflé pancakes.
4. Pizzeria Capoli, Shinjuku: Again offers a great variety of pizzas and vivid kinds of pasta for vegetarians.
If you are planning to stick to a budget, then don't forget to check out some lip-smacking food options in Seven Eleven. You can relish pounds cakes for 100 yen, savour some yoghurts, nip on some cheese tomato sandwiches, mushroom pizzas, and corn toasts, at affordable rates. Seven Eleven was my go-to place for morning coffee and snacks.
For everyone else out there, Japan is your place to be if you love ramen and are a sucker for good sushi.
