I still think about my time on the #PCT
for most of the day, I loved every part of it. Looking back on it even the days that we were completely miserable, tired, cold, wet, frustrated and hungry are still better then most days off trail. I received my PCT completion letter from the #pcta
and on the same day I received a violation notice by the #usforestservice
for the use of the guard shack at #hartspass.
Now I know trespassing in a building that’s owned by the #unitedstates
but I think there is a time and place in which some rules can be broken. I don’t want you to think I’m bragging or think it’s cool to break rules but I believe we were in a situation that it was acceptable. I did break into the guard shack but I did so in a way that nothing was damaged and it could be returned to its original state. We cleaned up after ourselves and left it better then we found it minus some firewood. I just want to know if anyone else would do the same thing we did? Imagine your cold, wet ,exhausted with at least 3 more days of walking through snow, and your sleeping bag is also wet and you haven’t felt your feet in 4 days. I’m not mad or upset about the fine, I did break the law. It is a small price to pay for the warmth and rejuvenation that little cabin gave us so we could make it to #canada!!
Also posting yourself on social media doing something illegal is not very smart, take note. If you want to see what the conditions were like leading up to the decision to break laws, check out video #36
I’ll put a link in my bio. First two pics were taken by @jeremyvincentlarson #thetrek #trekthepct #hike #thruhike #thruhiker #nobo #usda #goodtimes #stillalive #noregrets #mexicotocanada
