I have heard many non-vegans argue that #plantsfeelpain,
and that if #vegans
were so concerned about the suffering of other living beings, vegans wouldn’t murder plants either. They often go on to say that since humans have no other way than to cause another life pain, then we might as well keep killing animals and plants so we can survive. “Everyone knows the difference between taking a carrot out of the ground and slicing a pig into pieces. Everyone knows the difference between mowing a lawn and tossing a live baby male chick (egg industry) into a rendering machine. If one does not understand the difference, then that person is disingenuous, irrational and illogical. The fact that some people compare carrots to cows proves how muck-deep in oppressive thought meat-eaters truly are.” ~Gary Yourofsky, ADAPTT.org
Plants lack a central nervous system which consists of a brain, spinal cord and a complex network of neurons. This system is responsible for sending, receiving and interpreting information from all parts of the body including pain.
Plants can be propagated in many different ways, some of which include simply slicing a piece of the plant off and either placing it in a glass of water to root or planting it directly into the soil to root. It is obvious we cannot slice off a cow leg and soak it in a glass of water to grow a new cow.
Plants are not sentient. “A sentient being is a being who is subjectively aware; a being who has interests; that is, a being who prefers, desires, or wants. Those interests do not have to be anything like human interests. If a being has some kind of mind that can experience frustration or satisfaction of whatever interests that being has, then the being is sentient.”

If a person was genuinely concerned about the pain a plant feels and its death, the only logical thing to do would be to go vegan. “…carnivorous societies destroy many more #plants
than the vegan ones do. In America alone , 70 to 80 percent of the corn, wheat, oats and soy are fed to the 10 billion (US stats only) 9 land animals killed annually.
