Take me to Paris is a song riddled in metaphor and has a deeper meaning than the line of it.
Often times we feel that if we were to go on a perfect vacation that life would be better. That being entrenched in the 9 to 5, that having kids and never taking personal time hoping for the beautiful moment under the Eiffel Tower is how to live. Everything around you can say that’s the way to live too, especially if your always scrolling online, seeing other people’s highlight reel, and not necessarily their actual lives.
When I was younger as a musician I always wished I grew up in a different place. I wanted to live in a different place because I felt that I can never make it out of my city musically because of the city I am from. Through reading a lot of books on Buddhism and oddly enough the Steve Jobs biography I realized that going outside yourself to a different place may feel different in the short term but in the long term you will only experience your same problems. Despite that lesson I still subconsciously revert back too the former thinking.
To be clear this song is a look into my ego when it’s inflated. However there is an arguement back to that voice. The representation of the little girl on the cover is a picture of Saint Therese De Lisieux. Her importance on this album means so much to me spiritually as I have found my faith again from the Saints that have walked this earth. I’m not back into the insitiuation if religion and Catholicism where I was raised, but more the stories, the figures and the music #kanyewest #jesusisking #godisgood
Her mantra was to do things the little way to find yourself in a spiritual place. To me if I live my life and doing good deeds in the little way like she has it will push me past that feeling like I need to be in another place.
It will push me past my ego.
Ps. I mention Jack Antonoff in the hashtags because his style is having a massive influence on me musically, Cheers 💿
