Biodiversity is taking off in farmers’ Forest Gardens.
A desertified acre of land typically has 20 trees and just seven plant and animal species ... as a farmer’s Forest Garden flourishes, it becomes home to more than 2,000 trees and over 40 plant and animal species! 🙌
The increase in plant and animal biodiversity allows for a truly sustainable and harmonious ecosystem. The plants and animals support one another by lending shade and moisture, they can ward off harmful pests, and they provide a level of micronutrients to the land that hasn’t been present in years.
This year’s historic @ipbes_ report on biodiversity found that our planet’s biodiversity is stretched near “breaking point.” Forest Gardens are a proven solution to restoring the natural balance of our ecosystems.
